COUNCIL SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR VACANT COUNCIL SEAT

Due to the August 24, 2026 resignation of Councilman John Onysko, the Village has an immediate vacancy for his council seat, term ending December 31, 2027. The Village Charter states:

Any vacancy in the Council or an office thereof shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining members of Council for the unexpired term. If the vacancy is not filled within thirty days after it shall have occurred, the Mayor shall fill it by appointment.

This session will cover the roles and responsibilities of a council member and look into the Village operations. If you might be interested in being a candidate for council to fill this vacancy we invite you to attend. The goal is to have informed candidates.

The purpose of this meeting is to interview candidates and to deliberate and/or select of a new council member for the unexpired term ending December 31, 2027.

Interested candidates should contact the Finance Administrator at clerk@gatesmillsvillage.com or 440-423-4405, ext. 126 and submit a resume on or before 5:00 p.m, September 10, 2026.

All meetings are open to the public.
